Każdego roku dzień 11 Listopada obchodzony jest w Wielkiej Brytanii oraz w wielu innych miejscach świata jako Dzień Pamięci (Remembrance Day) lub jako Dzień Maka (Poppy Day).
Ma on na celu przypomnienie, że podczas wszystkich wojen ludzie tracili życie, abyśmy my mogli cieszyć się z wolności i pokoju.
Podczas tego dnia i całego poprzedzającego go tygodnia wiele różnorakich organizacji bierze udział w uroczystych obchodach upamiętniających poległych. Jedną z takich organizacji jest 121 Nuneaton Air Cadet Squadron. Jest to organizacja, która od wielu już lat bierze udział w obchodach upamiętniających polskich lotników poległych na Wyspach Brytyjskich, a pochowanych w Baginton.
Po kontakcie z Nimi, nasza drużyna powzięła decyzję, by dołączyć do tych obchodów w sposób szczególny.
Na naszą prośbę, w dniu 6 listopada 2011 w czasie uroczystości, przedstawiciele 121 Nuneaton Air Cadet Squadron złożyli w imieniu drużyny z Puszczykowa wieniec z maków na grobach polskich lotników. W ten symboliczny sposób mogliśmy oddać hołd bohaterom spoczywającym z daleka od rodzinnej ziemi.
My z kolei, chcąc podziękować za wieloletnią już opiekę i uczestnictwo w obchodach ‘Dnia Pamięci’ na małym przykościelnym cmentarzu kościółka Jana Chrzciciela w Baginton i pamięć o spoczywających tam polskich lotnikach z 308 Dywizjonu Krakowskiego, postanowiliśmy zorganizować ‘drużynową’ ceremonię na Brytyjskim Cmentarzu Garnizonowym na Cytadeli w Poznaniu. Zgodnie z brytyjską tradycją, pod pomnikiem złożyliśmy wieńce z maków w imieniu 121 Nuneaton Air Cadet Squadron oraz naszej drużyny, zapaliliśmy znicze oraz oddaliśmy honory.

Every year the Day of 11th November, is celebrated in Poland as Independence Day and in Britain as Remembrance Day or Poppy Day. In Poland the day celebrates the day when Poland became independent after 123 years of partition, in Britain the numerous casualties of World War I and II, and other conflicts are remembered.
For both Nations it is a time to remember the fallen soldiers who made our freedom and peace possible at the cost of their own life.
In Britain the week preceding “Remembrance Day” the celebrations are held by numerous organizations throughout the country. One of those organizations is the
121 Nuneaton Air Cadet Squadron. This is the organization, which has for many years taken part in activities organized to remember the fallen airmen of the Polish Air Force who had fallen in the days of World War II. They lost their lives to be buried on British soil in Baginton.
Following the contacts started a year ago, our scout team decided to join in those ceremonies in a very particular way.
At our request the Members and Staff of 121 Nuneaton Air Cadet Squadron agreed to lay a wreath of red puppies on the graves of Polish Airmen. The ceremony was held on the 6th November 2011. In this symbolic fashion we could participate in it paying a tribute to hero’s who lay so far from their fatherland.
In return we wanted to thank our English friends for the many years that they have participated in the ceremonies commemorating our nationals, held regularly at the little graveyard of the church of St John the Baptist Cemetery, Baginton, near Coventry Airport. This Cemetery holds but a few graves of airmen of the 308 Krakowski Squadron. So we offered to organize our scout team ceremony, at the Poznań Garrison Commonwealth Cemetery. Following the British tradition, we lay wreaths of red puppies, in the name of Members and Staff of 121 Nuneaton Air Cadet Squadron and our team. As this is not a custom known in Poland we had to make the wreaths ourselves.
Lamps were lit and full honours were given.
